The workplace relations minister is calling for an independent investigation into what is described as a toxic culture at one of New Zealand’s most recognisable visual effects companies. Workplace Relations Minister Andrew Little said in a statement that employers have an obligation to keep their workers safe. Weta Digital told 1 News on Wednesday it is aware of "historical behavioural issues", but said the company has changed and the complaints do not "reflect the Weta Digital of today". Weta Digital has worked on several big budget films, including as Birds of Prey, Avengers: End Game and the BFG.
