This may seem redundant, but Anna Maria Island is an island and, like every island in the world, it’s surrounded by water. I think a lot about this from time to time, since I too worked in Anna Maria for many years, and frequently felt like I was back in midtown Manhattan. The success of Anna Maria Island is the envy of many coastal towns in the country. Those towns are Nantucket Island, Massachusetts and Vail, Colorado. Getting back to Anna Maria Island, without a land bank or resident-only rentals, the responsibility is totally on service employees and their employers.
