Working from home: A double-edged sword?

Working from home loses the benefits of an intergenerational mix, as well as sharing in celebrations such as birthdays, writes Auguste Coetzer. Thousands of employees have switched to working from home, rather than spread the virus through shared workspaces in office buildings. Today’s workforce can include up to four generations working side by side - even a young 5th generation could be added. In South Africa, these are defined as:· The apartheid generation – born 1938 to 1964; · The struggle generation – born 1965 to 1980; · The transition generation – born 1981 to 1994; and · The born free generation – born 1995 to 2000. As we are aware, in South Africa many people live in crowded spaces and lack the privacy required for optimal delivery.
