Sesan OlufowobiThe Lagos State Government says it remains committed to workers welfare, adding that it has remitted N35.92bn into the Retirement Savings Accounts of 8,731 state retirees. The Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Dr. Benson Oke, stated this in Ikeja on Friday at a ministerial press briefing to mark Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s third year in office. Oke said, “This has been achieved due to automation of the payroll which automatically ensured deductions/remittances of pension contributions. From May 2017 to date, contributions by employees and employer credited into Retirement Savings Accounts is N9,562,897,973.60.”The commissioner added that the terminal entitlements of retirees paid by the Lagos State Government through the Lagos State Pensions Commission into the RSA of 2,466 Public retirees in the last one year was N9.3bn. He added that in the last one year, 80 family members of deceased employees had been paid N220,700,741.76.
