TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A worker at a chemical plant in Taoyuan City was hospitalized and some residents nearby were evacuated Sunday after a leak of nitrous gases developed at the facility, according to firefighters. Taoyuan City fire department said an ambulance and seven fire trucks were dispatched to the area at 8:30 a.m. in response to reports that a yellow-colored gas was leaking from a factory owned by T.N.C. A 60-year-old worker at the factory was taken to hospital after he complained of feeling ill, while residents of the surrounding area were evacuated to ensure their safety, firefighters said. The problem was brought under control at 9:45 a.m., the firefighters said, adding that the cause of the gas leak was being investigated.
