(File photo)A worker who broke her back after falling down the hatch of a Queenstown tourist boat said she can still remember the sound of her vertebrae breaking, and says the episode has “ruined her life”. The 58-year-old woman, who was granted name suppression, was a migrant worker employed by Southern Discoveries to sell food and beverage at Mt Nicholas Station, near Queenstown. Judge Walker said Southern Discoveries pleaded guilty to a Maritime NZ charge of failing to ensure the health and safety of workers in June. She was cleaning windows with another worker when she stepped backwards into the open hatch.
