Many of our people in the diaspora are doing better financially than they would here. Of the about 30 million Africans in the diaspora, Kenyans account for about three million, or six per cent of the population. TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCESFourthly, the government’s Kenya Diaspora Policy, which is part of the Kenya Vision 2030 flagship project, now need to be implemented fully. It has excellent ideas, such as creating a Diaspora Council of Kenya that would oversee this agenda of truly “Making Diaspora the 48th County”. I tried some of these ideas when I was Minister for Cooperatives Development by working with my team and diaspora to create diaspora saccos.
