The upgrading of the 20,000-seater stadium, which sits on 20 acres, is estimated to cost the Bungoma County Government a total of Sh700 million for two phases. Other works in the first phase include pitch construction and landscaping in the stadium. The facility that was previously known as Kanduyi Stadium was renamed Masinde Muliro Stadium. After completion of works, county officials say the stadium is expected to be one of be largest in Western region.
