Warner Bros. / DCNo one knew what would happen when Warner Bros./DC released its new Wonder Woman movie. Box office failure for Wonder Woman would have carried repercussions at Warner Bros. and DC far beyond the usual impact of a single film. What Wonder Woman had going for it in North America was wide awareness of and affection for the character. And being new to the world of superhero comic books, China wasn’t at all familiar with Wonder Woman or her Diana Prince alter ego. Wonder Woman won’t release in the land of the rising sun—the world’s third biggest movie market—until August 25, so we’ll have to wait and see.
