Timaru women's fashion store Max is one of 17 throughout the country set to close as the chain cuts jobs after its stores shut for seven weeks during the coronavirus lockdown. Max confirmed on Tuesday that Timaru was one of the stores earmarked for closure. In a written statement, Max Fashions managing director Jamie Whiting said being unable to trade for seven weeks due to Covid-19 took a "considerable toll on the business". Max Fashions opened its Timaru store in 2016. Of the 17 stores being closed, four are in Christchurch and five in Auckland.
