State Minister for Post and Telecom Tarana Halim announced the initiative during an inaugural ceremony for new mail vans at Bangladesh Post Office on Saturday. Women will drive 20 percent of the 118 new vans purchased by the postal service, according to the minister. Nineteen of the vans were inaugurated at the ceremony and ten women were handed the keys to their vans by the minister. With these new vans, the minister said she hopes to introduce services for business parcels and logistic transport use. “It has been my goal, ever since I took over as the state minister, to make sure the postal service can stand on its own,” she said.
