Speaking at Safaricom Stadium-Kasarani during the Joyful Women Organisation (JOYWO) annual conference, Mrs Kariuki called on more women to come forward and benefit from the tenders. “We have performed poorly in terms of awarding tenders to women. We call upon them to come forward and apply for government tenders,” said the Cabinet Secretary. She cautioned against harassment of women who compete with men saying such behaviour will not be tolerated. President Uhuru Kenyatta said his administration appreciates the critical role played by women in the society noting that it’s through his government that he appointed women into senior leadership positions.
