Tech City UK, the public body that commissioned the research, said that young women were suffering from a “perceived lack of skills and self-belief”. The survey of 1,000 people aged between 15 and 21 found that 45 per cent of women claimed that they “do not have the skills to work in technology”, 38 per cent said they “lack knowledge about technology” and 24 per cent felt that the industry was “not for people like them”.
