Rebecca Amunsden leads the Southland's Women's Hui at the Omaui Camp to support and empower each other in building a strong network. Invercargill deputy mayor Rebecca Amundsen says she gets angry when people assume she is Mayor Tim Shadbolt's personal assistant or minder. Women are not treated equal, Amundsen says, so she is trying to address the issue. The group organised former Prime Minister Helen Clark's visit to Invercargill in October and it hosted a Women's Hui at Omaui on Saturday. Amundsen said women were not treated equal in today's society.
