The organization Women in Animation is gaining a Canadian branch. A Vancouver chapter of the group, which supports females in the field, will launch in January. Gail Currey, chair of global chapters for WIA, said Vancouver has become a global centre for studios producing animation, special effects, games, virtual reality and augmented reality. “The sheer number of artists living and working in Vancouver in games, VFX, feature animation, television and now VR/AR is astounding,” said Mason-Boulé in a news release. “I want to give these artists a voice, a sense of community and a connective resource.”
