Women cinematographers unite as a peer group

This Women’s Day, a group of female cinematographers have come together and display solidarity as one peer group — IWCC (Indian Women Cinematographers’ Collective). Savita Singh, who has shot films like Ram Gopal Varma’s Phoonkh and Vibhu Puri’s Hawaaizaada, says the initiative was long due. “Not many people even know that there is a sizable number of women doing cinematography in various languages. It’s about drawing attention to our underexposed, neglected group of professionals known as female cinematographers. We want to provide a platform for all women cinematographers to come forward and make themselves heard.”
