First women’s championship worth the wait for Mac, March 10I am not an avid sports fan, but Sunday was quiet and I decided to watch the U Sports women’s basketball game between McMaster and Laval. McMaster had not won the championship in 30 years, and Theresa Burns has been their head coach for 26 years. At halftime, McMaster was trailing, and what does Burns tell them: “Go out and have fun.” So in the second half, the McMaster players were obviously enjoying themselves. Meanwhile, the Laval players seemed tentative and desperate in maintaining their lead. When McMaster won the game, the players, unsurprisingly, couldn’t wait to hug their coach.
