The climber fell on Goldney Glacier in the midst of the Southern Alps west of Arthur's Pass. (File photo)A woman in her 20s is seriously injured after falling while climbing in a remote part of Canterbury near Arthur's Pass. The glacier is northwest of Arthur's Pass, by Mt Rolleston near the boundary of Canterbury and the West Coast. A helicopter took the woman to Christchurch Hospital, but another had to be called to rescue the four others who became stuck trying to help the injured woman. The four had little to no injuries, but had to be winched from the slope by a helicopter crew, which then took them to Arthur's Pass.
