A man raped a woman lifeguard at gunpoint Saturday at a pool in Alexandria, the Alexandria police said. They said the woman told them that she was at work at the community pool in the 200 block of S. Pickett Street around 2 p.m. when the stranger approached. Many pool users were apparently deterred by the weather, and no one else was in the pool when the man appeared, police said. The woman was raped and the man fled. Police released this description of the man: White, mid 30s, tall and thin, with short hair and dark eyes.
