Crime & Punishment of Friday, 26 December 2025Source: rainbowradioonline.comThe Ashanti Regional Police Command has successfully prosecuted a 34-year-old Nigerian national, Beauty Alakwe, for inflicting harm on a minor (daughter) in Duase, near Kenyasi, in the Kenyasi District. Subsequently, Alakwe was arrested and prosecuted based on investigations conducted by the Kenyase District Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) under the Tafo-Pankrono Division. Alakwe was sentenced to 15 months’ imprisonment with hard labor and fined GH¢6,000, with an additional 15 months in prison if the fine is not paid. Due to her failure to pay the fine, the convict has been sent to the Central Prisons in Kumasi to commence her sentence. The Ashanti Regional Police Command expressed appreciation to the public for their cooperation during the investigation while cautioning against mob justice and reiterating its commitment to protecting children and vulnerable individuals.
