The woman’s family has claimed that she was tortured for dowry by her husband and in-laws, the police said. The two got married against the wishes of Ajay’s family on January 1. Though Ajay’s family members allowed the couple to stay in the house, they allegedly demanded dowry from Dipali’s mother, a house help. The next afternoon, when her mother went for work, Dipali allegedly committed suicide, the police added.
