Woman gets 180 days in jail for killing boyfriend in YouTube stunt gone wrong

A 20-year-old woman who fatally shot her boyfriend in the chest in a video stunt meant to go viral on YouTube has been sentenced to 180 days in jail. Judge Jeffrey Remick ordered Monalisa Perez to serve the first 90 days of her sentence in ten-day increments over three years. Perez will not be allowed to profit from the stunt and has been banned for life from using firearms. Perez, who was pregnant when she accidentally killed Pedro Ruiz outside their home in Halstad, Minn., will retain custody of their two children. “We were doing a YouTube video, and it went wrong,” Perez said in a call to 911.
