COLOMBO (News 1st); The Disaster Management Center states that a 56- year old woman died and two others were injured when an earth embankment collapsed in Ankumbura. Its Assistant Director, Pradeep Kodippili stated that 10 families have been affected by the Kotiyagala Oya overflow in the Moneragala District due to extreme weather conditions as well. Furthermore, the Meteorological Department warns that there could be more than 75 mm of rain in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva Provinces and in some places in the Galle and Matara Districts as well. The Department stated that showers or thundershowers will occur in many parts of the island during the evening today (27).
