Laura Beattie, who has cystic fibrosis , carries an oxygen tank around almost everywhere but now her health is gradually worsening. She is one of 354 people in Britain waiting for a lung transplant - a list that is getting longer each year - and without one she could die. Now, she has just 24 per cent lung function. This can make the successful donation and transplantation of more delicate organs such as the heart and lungs less likely. Meanwhile, Laura says getting a transplant could quite literally save her life.
