Woman’s uniform helps cops nab Buddha statue thieves - Nation

GEORGE TOWN: She allegedly helped steal a RM10,000 Reclining Buddha statue from a temple and could have gotten away with it except for one clue. One of the alleged thieves wore the uniform of an established company in Penang while stealing the statue from Penang Buddhist Association’s (PBA) altar. Her uniform was captured clearly on PBA’s high-resolution security cameras, making it easy for police to track her down. A man and a woman were captured on PBA’s security camera stealing the foot-long marble statue, said to be over 90-years-old on Dec 11. The woman then gives the man a boost and he reaches for the statue on the altar which is over 2m high.
