A woman’s date with her boyfriend on the Eid-ul-Azha ended in horror when her lover and five of his friends allegedly raped her in Bagerhat. Locals say Mukto Sardar, 24, a resident of Rampal’s Orabunia village, had an affair with the woman from a neighbouring village. When the woman came to Orabunia, Mukto took her to a secluded fish enclosure owned by Abdul Hamid, where five others were waiting. Apart from Mukto and Hamid, 57, the others are Hasan Sheikh, 27, Sheikh Belayet Hossain, 25, Islamil Sheikh, 26, and Raju Sheikh, 24. “They have admitted raping the woman during primary interrogation,” said Rampal police station Officer-in-Charge Belayet Hossain.
