The reversal led to a lawsuit from the Center for Biological Diversity, Idaho Conservation League and other conservation groups. Late last month, Montana U.S. District Court Judge Donald W. Molloy ordered the agency to submit a new final decision regarding wolverine protection within 18 months. “The FWS encourages cooperative conservation efforts for these species because they are, by definition, species that may warrant future protection under the ESA,” says the agency.
