Commenting on Mugabe's resignation, Allotey Jacobs shared an opinion that the wife is the cause of his downfall. He, however, likened the character of Grace Mugabe to most of other African leaders and came to a conclusion on Peace FM's Kokrokoo that "wives of African leaders have bad character". He later withdrew his statement and likened the behaviour to some of the wives of African leaders.
