Sir Andrew Witty, 55, will take a leave of absence from United Health Group, where he is president and chief executive of its Optum pharmacy benefits and care services business. The role could lead to him having a greater interaction with Glaxo, the FTSE 100 company where he was chief executive for about nine years. Sir Andrew had joined in 1985. Glaxosmithkline is among the multinational drugs companies and health and academic institutions seeking to develop a vaccine.
