Dr Arivarni said there was a distance of about 80m between her vehicle and the accused, whom she later identified as Ja’afar Halid, 39, during the court proceedings. “I stopped my car to get help from a passer-by on the bridge,” said Dr Arivarni who suffered a head wound. “I was driving on the left lane heading towards Penang bridge when I saw the shooter in the middle of the two lanes. Dr Arivarni and Nurul Huda were testifying in the trial of Ja’afar, who was slain businessman Datuk Ong Teik Kwong’s bodyguard. During cross-examination by defence counsel Datuk Y. Anbananthan, both Dr Arivarni and Nurul Huda said they did not know Ja’afar prior to the shooting.
