ASIA’S representation at this British Open, which is scheduled to come to an end today, was heavily depleted, following withdrawals. Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama missed out after he withdrew from the 149th Open Championship at Royal St George’s Golf Club in Kent, England, citing a positive Covid-19 test result. “I feel badly missing the Open and look forward to playing again at St Andrews next year. But what surprised some was that if this were the case, then all those players at Royal St George’s are “not preparing” for the Olympics.
