Withdrawal of Indian troops is solution to Doklam standoff: China

New Delhi: Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi has said India should “conscientiously withdraw” its troops from the disputed Doklam area at the tri-junction of India, China and Bhutan, claiming India had “admitted” to entering Chinese territory. Putting the onus for ending the Doklam standoff on India, Wang, the first top Chinese leader to comment on the impasse, said that an Indian withdrawal is the “simple” solution to the over-a-month-old border dispute. China has refused to talk to India on the subject until India pulls back its troops from Doklam. The solution to this problem is very simple: conscientiously withdraw,” Wang said. Doka La is the Indian name for the region which Bhutan recognizes as Doklam, while China claims it as part of its Donglang region.
