Pre-convention polls showed the race competitive but with Clinton ahead by at least a few points in most cases. Trump’s unfavourable numbers are much higher — 61 per cent and 63 per cent in the two polls. These numbers could close a few points or jump around depending on the individual survey, but the race is already well-defined. Post-convention polls show Clinton leading the race much more comfortably. Trump is winning white voters by 5 points (NBC/WSJ), 12 points (Post/ABC) or 14 points (CNN).
