Machado and Arenado are the latest to reap the rewards of the free agent system. Defending NL East winner Atlanta signed third baseman Josh Donaldson to a one-year, $23 million contract. Washington signed left-hander Patrick Corbin to a six-year, $140 million deal to keep the Braves from repeating. NL Central winner Milwaukee signed catcher Yasmani Grandal to an $18.25 million deal and gave another $10 million to third baseman Mike Moustakas. Clayton Kershaw is in the first year of a three-year, $31 million deal.
