JERUSALEM — Palestinians sought in two deadly attacks were gunned down by Israeli security forces after intense manhunts, but hours later a midmorning drive-by shooting on Thursday killed at least two Israelis and raised fears that the West Bank was heating up into a new phase of violence. The Israeli military, which put up roadblocks around Ramallah to try to capture the assailant in the morning shooting, said it was deploying several additional battalions to the West Bank to defend against potential copycat attacks. The shooting came even as Israeli officials were trumpeting their overnight success in catching two Palestinians sought in attacks on the West Bank that had particularly enraged Israelis.
