Data for the past 10 months shows detection of over a lakh cases nationwide. Hidden cases are a problem, says Dr Anil Kumar, Deputy Director General (leprosy), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, New Delhi. “Of over a lakh cases, we have detected 32, 600 leprosy cases till now in active screening. Union Health Ministry has initiated a campaign called Sparsh, where in each village, Gram Sabhas will spread awareness about prevention of leprosy.
