Leah Vukmir received 75 percent of the vote at the state Republican Party convention, well above the 60 percent threshold needed to win an official endorsement. Vukmir will enjoy the financial backing of the state party and its get-out-the-vote operation, a considerable edge. Trump narrowly won Wisconsin in 2016, and Republicans performed well in statewide races in midterm elections in 2010 and 2014. Vukmir has been an ally of Walker’s in the state Senate.
