The northern suburbs — particularly northern Montgomery, Loudoun and Frederick — continue to show the highest chances for icy roads. This is a liquid precipitation forecast — it could fall as rain, snow, freezing rain or a combination. Liquid precipitation forecast through Saturday night. The good news is that forecast models have backed off from Thursday’s very cold temperature forecast. The National Weather Service’s ice and snow total graphics support our thinking in this forecast — light accumulation, but highest in the northern suburbs.
