Many parts of the country welcomed the meteorological start to the cold season with rain, cool temperatures and snowfall. The cooler temperatures have also seen snowfall in parts of the south, with road snowfall warnings in place for Porter's Pass, Lewis Pass, Arthur's Pass, Lindis Pass and Crown Range Road. In addition to the cooler temperatures and snowfall, many Kiwis have woken to a wet weekend with "significant rain overnight" in Christchurch.
