Almost 300 students from nine child-care centers and schools are sick with upper respiratory tract infection, sparking concerns that the winter flu season may be arriving and that it may complicate the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The schools have been advised to suspend classes for at least three days until the test results are out. Respiratory medicine specialist Leung Chi-chiu said respiratory viruses would become more active in autumn and winter. The classes will be suspended from today to Friday for disinfection, while students and teachers will be tested for Covid-19. Tai Po Methodist Kindergarten also saw 26 pupils from a 30-pupil morning class calling in sick on Monday.
