The council is an advocate on municipal labour issues in the city and is part of the Canadian Labour Congress. Canadian Labour Congress president Hassan Yussuff gives a speech during the 2016 NDP Federal Convention in Edmonton on April 8, 2016. In an interview Wednesday, she said she took her concerns to the Canadian Labour Congress last spring and was told there would be some sort of followup. “There are several people ... higher up in the labour movement, that knew what was going on,” she said.
