Windsor & Eton FC has announced the launch of a senior Women’s section, marking a historic first for the town, according to the club. Mark Cooper, co-chairman at Stag Meadow, said: “We are thrilled to announce the launch of the women’s section. There is some incredible footballing talent in Windsor, but any women who have been keen to play have had to travel to Slough, Maidenhead, Beaconsfield, Ascot and so forth. Currently, Windsor & Eton FC has three girls’ sides and its longer-term goal is to have at least one girls team in every age group from u7s through to the senior women’s side. They are next in action this weekend as they welcome AFC Winkfield to Stag Meadow for a Thames Valley Premier League fixture.
