Wiltshire driver's back spasm led to speeding conviction

Matthew Withers, of Upper Westwood in Bradford on Avon appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court earlier this month. He received a £500 fine and must also pay £85 in court costs as well as £200 to fund victim services. No points were added to his driving licence because his reaction to a back spasm led to the commission of this offence. Usually, speeding drivers receive at least three penalty points on their driving licence if convicted, and have to pay a fine of at least £100. Building up 12 or more penalty points within a period of three years is likely to lead to a driving disqualification.
