Jean-Paul Gaultier has dreamed of staging a revue ever since he saw footage of the Folies Bergère on his grandmother’s TV. ‘I got in trouble at school the next day because I was sketching the girls in feathers and fishnets,’ he says, ‘but I realised that I could be loved through my drawings, as I suddenly became popular.’ Now, Gaultier’s dream has come true as he has designed costumes for The One – Grand Show, an outré production at the Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin, opening this week
