The betting group, which is still looking for a permanent chief executive, suffered the embarrassment of having to withdraw from merger talks with a Canadian rival last month after its biggest shareholders vetoed the move. Responding to accusations of a lack of industry experience at the top, it announced the appointment to the board of John O’Reilly, former managing director at Coral Interactive, and Mark Brooker, former chief operating officer at Betfair.
