November 21, 2020 by Lahiru Pothmulla No CommentsThe government yesterday said it will order a COVID-19 vaccine only after the World Health Organisation (WHO) approved it to be safe. Responding to the questions raised by Opposition MPs in Parliament, Minister Namal Rajapaksa said the WHO has still not approved a vaccine for COVID-19. “No country has made an official decision on the vaccine yet. We will not allow our people to be tried as guinea pigs. Once the WHO approves that it is safe to use, then we will order the vaccine for our people as a Government,” he said in Parliament.
