The government would not give in to pressure from people who always stood in the way of development, he said without mentioning the ongoing GAIL agitation at Mukkam. The government would take steps to recruit more women into the Fire Force to ensure gender equality, the Chief Minister said. People with high educational qualification would improve the quality of the force, Mr. Vijayan said. The Chief Minister inaugurated the breathing apparatus training centre.
