After reading it, I really struggled to see what difference it will make to a single black life in Britain. As my colleague Darren Lewis says, this is the All Lives Matter report. It’s wrong that working-class white boys have been left behind and that needs to be addressed, but I’m curious as to why this report was the place to do it. There should have been a recommendation to urgently review the numbers around the disproportionate exclusion of black children and to make the recruitment of black and brown teachers a priority. That’s a quarter of black children.
