Wilder did floor Fury in the final round, but by some miracle Fury regained equal footing and finished the fight. With the fight ending in a draw, Wilder retained his WBC heavyweight crown. In the rematch held in February 2020, Fury left no doubt by bamboozling Wilder in seven rounds to win the WBC title. Wilder claimed Fury had a hard object concealed within his gloves. Wilder claimed Fury's "doctored" gloves allowed the Briton's fingernails to scratch and injure his ear.
