Now, MTV is undergoing something of a rebrand, or at least the first steps of one, by bringing back some of the biggest hits from the past. Earlier this season, the channel also brought back Unplugged, which is arguably MTV’s most celebrated program. Unplugged isn’t a weekly occurrence, but MTV does plan on signing on several big names to stop by and record special performances. It’s wonderful to see music back on the network, even if it’s still only a small portion of the programming. Music belongs on MTV, even if it can’t pull in ad dollars and push culture like it once did.
